Biography
Nayantara was born on November 18, 1984 in Bangalore, Karnataka, India. At birth, the girl was given the name Diana Mariam Kurian, but then she changed it to a more attractive and easy to remember pseudonym. Nayantara grew up in a family of aristocrats Kurian Kodiyattu and Oman Kurian, so from childhood she lived well and was able to get a good education. In addition, Nayantara's father worked as an Indian Air Force official, and the family was constantly moving from place to place. The girl was able to study at schools in Jamnagar, Gujarat and Delhi, as well as at Balikamadom Girls' High School. She then attended Martoma College in Thiruvalla, where she earned a bachelor's degree in English literature. Nayantar also has an older brother, Leno, who now resides in Dubai.
Creative path
The actress' road to big cinema began with the modeling business. The attractive girl was invited to work part-time as a model in her spare time from her college studies. On the set of one of the projects, young Nayantara was noticed by director Satyan Antikkad. The director offered the girl to play a major role in the film "Manassinakkare" (2003). At first, the aspiring model asked for time to think, and then after a few days finally decided to star in a movie, but her condition was that this project would be her first and only work in a movie. However, after the filming of "Manassinakkare", the girl went to the set of "Natturajavu". Both tapes were released in 2004.
The next release of the picture with the actress in the title role was a psychological thriller "Vismayatumbatu". In the film, Nayantara played the sister of the main character, she had to reincarnate in a ghost.
Subsequently, Nayantara began acting in Tamil and Telugu films. Her debut in Tamil was Aya, then critics called her role one of the brightest debuts in the history of Tamil cinema. On the set of "Aya" the girl was noticed by a film producer who was developing a project for a horror comedy film "Mysterious Guest". Beginning artist at once attracted him, and he invited her to the lead role in the upcoming movie. That tape was the first real box-office success for Nayantara, the film ran for over 800 days and thus made the actress one of the most sought-after in South Indian cinema.
The next big box office hit, starring Nayantara, was the gangster action film Bill (a remake of the 1980 film of the same name). For this picture, the actress has received considerable praise from critics.
2008 was extremely successful for the actress: there were as many as five films with her, in addition, she received a second consecutive year, Vijay Award in the category "Favorite Heroine" and a nomination for Best Actress at the Filmfare Awards South.
