American Lamelo Ball is considered a rising basketball star. He was drafted by the Charlotte Hornets as a point guard in the 2020 NBA Draft. The son of soccer player and businessman Lavre Christopher Ball, who was named the National League's top recruit, now advertises shoes and stars on the family reality show Ball in the Family in addition to sports.
Lamelo Ball was born in August 2001. The biography of the future basketball player began in the Los Angeles suburb of Chino Hills. The family was directly related to sports, so the boy and his two brothers, Lonzo Anderson and Leangelo Robert, were used to physical activity from childhood. Parents made sure that their children would grow up to be successful, harmoniously developed people.
Laurel's father, Christopher Ball, was considered a versatile athlete. He competed in Division II of the National Collegiate Athletic Association. At a young age, when he got tired of throwing the ball in the basket, he made the transition to professional soccer and then took a coaching job.
Tina Slatinski's mother did not excel athletically after college. Maintaining the home, she watched her husband and sons' successes closely. The woman helped the head of the family run a shoe and clothing business and was also the star of a reality show that was popular with many people.
Lamelo, who had a strong physique, began playing basketball at an early age. His first mentor, of course, was his visionary, ambitious father. Sometimes Laurus was upset by his parallel passion for flag soccer, but the kid didn't pay any attention to it, because he liked games involving running and a ball.
In the mid-2000s, giving in to the wishes of the willful head of the family, the Ball brothers firmly established themselves on the court. In high school, they became indispensable players on the Big Ballers VXT junior varsity team. Due to a lack of sponsorship, Lamelo competed in competitions organized by the Amateur Athletic Union. At that level, he set a number of records and won honorable, but not prestigious, titles and prizes.
At the Chino Hills institution, the teen gained additional experience. The sports website MaxPreps named him and Los Angeles native Onyeka Okongwa its top recruits of the year after the school's team won a local championship.
Before his first junior season, Lamelo was pulled out of high school because a coach showed up who his parents didn't approve of. In the process of getting a home education, the kid signed with agent Harrison Gaines, who promised to provide a brilliant career in the United States and abroad.
And indeed, the mentee achieved success with teams from Virginia and Ohio State. The young basketball player was interested in the University of California. However, Laurus' entrepreneurial activities and the public scandals surrounding his name jeopardized his participation in the National Collegiate Athletic Association tournament. The young athlete then contemplated the Basketball Development League and a move to Australia or China.
