Saul Canelo Alvarez was born on June 19, 1990 in Guadalajara, Mexico. The boy had an atypical appearance for these regions. Young Saul had pale skin, generously sown with freckles, and bright red hair. Alvarez's unusual appearance, as for a Mexican, already in his school years became an object of ridicule by others. However, Alvarez never gave himself in offense. Every ill-wisher had to answer for his words.
It should be noted that Saul was born into a family of athletes. The boy's first coach was his older brother. In addition to our hero, parents raised another daughter and as many as six sons. By the way, each of them later became a professional boxer.
Canelo Alvarez came to boxing at the age of 13. The guy regularly entered the ring, participating in amateur competitions. It took Saul several years to win the title among young Mexican non-professional boxers. Alvarez was so overmatched in skill over his peers that it soon became difficult for him to find worthy opponents. The only way out of the situation looked like a transition to professional boxing. Surprisingly, at that time our hero was only 15 years old. However, the leaders of the local boxing federation were not confused by this fact at all. So the young Canelo Alvarez without any problems got the right to perform at the highest level, entering the ring against mature, more experienced opponents.
The recognition as one of the best young boxers of the world and the love of the public Canelo Alvarez managed to win in 2011. At that time, the young talent stepped into the ring against the champion Matthew Hutton. As a result, Saul got the WBC featherweight belt. The same year, a successful defense of the title took place in the fight against Ryan Rhodes. Then he had several more fights against challengers Kermit Cintron and Alfonso Gomez. Both fights ended with a confident win for Alvarez.
In spring 2012 our hero had one of the biggest fights of his career, fighting at the ring with Shane Mosley, many times world champion. The competitors fought each other for 12 rounds, and according to the result, the young Mexican won the fight by unanimous decision of the judges.
