The Pirate Epic. History in a long, albeit small, but an era. The era of daredevils, risk-takers, adventurers. It has its own charm. The spirit of freedom reigned everywhere. Even freedom from life itself. After all, being a pirate, you're always at sea, the ocean, and land is where life is. But you are distant from it. Life will be after or not with you. That's the real romance for pirates.
So, the series tells us about the fates of several pirates, each one has its own, but all memorable. And yet the main character is Captain Flint. It is with him that we see flashbacks, a complete immersion in the reasons for his actions and the search for his happiness, which is impossible, so he is in search of a perpetual struggle. Fighting civilization is a lost battle in advance, but he is willing to start it and get everyone involved after him. Why are others willing to sacrifice everything for his goal? The answer is simple, the goal is too high. To make a coup, to show those who thought they were superior, more civilized than you, that they are no better, but even worse. To write your name in world history, of course, no adventurer would refuse that.
The series is about the journey, but there is a downside. The journey itself and its beginning cannot be compared to its conclusion, which is swift and hasty. There's too much at stake to stop it that way. That's my qualm with this series. The first and second seasons remained more entertaining to me. They were specifically about pirates and adventure and the hunt for treasure and a better life. But the tone has changed and now there are higher goals that are not commensurate with a couple dozen pirates. They are lost and lost.
The characters are elaborate, there are dark spots in many of the biographies, but it adds to the charm, most importantly known and understood the reasons that motivated people to kill, brutality, although it can not be justified.
It is a series + 18, there is nudity, blood and violence. Also great fights on land and water. Historical personalities are mixed in with characters from "Treasure Island". Almost all of the famous personalities are present here and influence the events in one way or another. But this is all fiction, if you want to know about the real history of these or other real-life characters, it is better to refer to other sources. Also, I wouldn't insist that this is a prequel to Stevenson's story. It's better to say it's inspired by it. And that's great, because over four seasons you get attached to even the baddest outlaws. Whatever their gender, what's interesting here is that power doesn't belong to one gender, it's divided. After all, power cannot be concentrated in one hand. I recommend watching it, even if you don't like pirates, adventures like this are worth watching, at least the first two seasons, and then curiosity will be too strong to stop.
